Esta es una lista de los vetos ejercidos por el gobierno de los Estados Unidos en el Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas. Entre 1966 y 2011, Estados Unidos ha sido el Estado con más vetos en el Consejo de Seguridad, habiendo ejercido 82, detrás de la Unión Soviética con 121 vetos entre 1946 y 1989.[1]
EL abuso del veto en el Consejo de Seguridad está contemplado en el capítulo 2 de la Carta de las Naciones Unidas.[2] De acuerdo al politólogo Phyllis Bennis, "Los Estados Unidos ha vetado y amenaza con vetar en el Consejo de Seguridad, y en reuniones como de la Asamblea General o el Consejo de Derechos Humanos, donde no hay poder de veto, amenazan a otros países.[3] Aunque el término "veto" no aparece en la Carta de la ONU,[2][4] según el historiado Geoffrey Roberts, el sistema de veto fue un requisito de la Unión Soviética y de Estados Unidos para evitar conflictos como la Segunda Guerra Mundial.[4][5] Estados Unidos también tiene poder de veto en otras dos organizaciones internacionales: la Organización Mundial del Comercio y el Banco Mundial.[6][7]
